Bangalore: Two persons, including a research scholar, were arrested at Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) for allegedly possessing fake passport and fake visa. Immigration officials of BIA arrested research scholar Sailakhsmi (26), a native of Bheemavaram in Andhra Pradesh, and confiscated a fake visa from her at the premises of BIA on Tuesday evening. According to sources, Ms. Sailakshmi was cheated allegedly by her friend Paresh, who allegedly procured a fake visa for her. Sailakshmi was pursuing her doctoral studies in Middlesex University, U.K., since 2002. Two months ago, she dropped out and returned home. But recently she got a job in London and requested Paresh to help her get a visa. Instead, he got a fake residential visa for her, said the officer. In another case on Wednesday, airport officials officials detained a man who had arrived from Sharjah on a fake passport. The accused was identified as Manoj Kumar (29), a native of Kasargod in Kerala, whose employer had confiscated his original passport. The accused managed to procure a passport belonging to another person and fabricated it.
