To invest $15 m in Chennai To hire 1,400 employees by 2010 CHENNAI: Omega Healthcare Management Services, a leading healthcare knowledge process and business process outsourcing company, inaugurated its new state-of-the-art facility on Wednesday at Kandanchavadi near here. Addressing presspersons at the new facility on Wednesday here Gopi Natarajan, President and CEO, said that the company was serving exclusively healthcare services companies and handling medical coding, billing, accounts receivable management, claims processing, and healthcare revenue management services. He said Omega Healthcare was a U.S.-based company with its India operations as a 100 per cent subsidiary. Omega had two operations centres in India. The main centre located in Bangalore was a 45,000 sq. ft. facility. The new Chennai facility, also spanning nearly 45,000 sq. ft. could accommodate 2,100 employees in multiple shifts. At present, the company was employing a total of 2,600 people of which 1,900 were located in Bangalore and 700 in Chennai. Mr. Natarajan said Omega so far invested $25 million and would invest another $15 million in the next 18-24 months in the Chennai facility. The company, as part of the expansion scheme, was planning to hire an additional 1,400 employees by July 2010 in Chennai, bringing the total to 4,000. Employees hired in Chennai would be working on medical coding, accounts receivable management and data entry into various client application systems. Anurag Mehta, Executive Vice President, said the company had 65 customers in the U.S. including six publicly traded companies.
