Notice to State on KMF plea

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday ordered issue of notices to the State Government, Cooperation Department and others on a petition by some of the directors of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).

The petitioners, Harish and others, apprehended that the State Government might appoint three directors to the KMF for which elections are slated on Thursday.

The petitioners said successive governments had been appointing directors on the eve of elections and then withdrawing the names once the elections were completed.

They apprehended that the present government might also appoint directors. They urged the court to stay any such appointment.

Justice Rammohan Reddy said stay could be given only if there is a notification appointing directors. As there is no notification, no stay can be given. He, however, ordered issue of notices and adjourned further hearing of the case.
