Gulbarga-Bidar milk union members get show-cause notices ahead of elections BANGALORE: The Janata Dal (Secular) on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to capture the Karnataka Milk Federation by luring its members in the district milk unions with money to support its candidates. Addressing presspersons here, Janata Dal (Secular) spokesperson Y.S V. Datta and party Deputy Floor leader in the Assembly Bandeppa Kashempur alleged that the BJP was trying to experiment with “Operation Kamala” in the KMF elections. Mr. Datta said the party would launch a struggle both inside and outside the legislature against such a trend. Mr. Kashempur, who is also president and members of the administrative council of the Gulbarga-Bidar District Co-operative Milk Union, said the district union was supposed to elect its representative to the KMF Board on July 10 through elections. But the government was now trying to threaten the members by issuing show-cause notices after realising that the BJP would not be able to elect its representative from here as it does not have majority, he alleged. He said the notices had been served on the members asking them to show cause by July 9 as to why they should not be disqualified and their union superseded for transferring the sub-office of the Union from Gulbarga to Bidar. He said the sub-office had been shifted to promote dairy activities in Bidar and to help farmers. After relocating the sub-office, the farmers coming under this union were getting an additional Re. 1 per litre of milk supplied by them.
