JAIPUR: Six newly recruited agricultural scientists of the National Academy of Agricultural Research and Management, Hyderabad, attended a 21-day training course on farming and rural survey at Surdhana village in Bikaner district of Rajasthan. The course ended this week with the young scientists’ detailed discussions on agriculture, animal husbandry and village economy with the farmers and experts of the Beedlal Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Addressing the participants, Rajasthan Agricultural University’s Field Education Director Hanuman Prasad said the farmers could augment crop yield by striking an “intelligent balance” between natural resources and new technology. He underlined the significance of rain water harvesting for farming and irrigation. According to an official release here, the farmers gave some practical tips to the scientists on plantation, prevention of plant diseases, optimum utilisation of water and application of technology in the agricultural fields. Agricultural scientists R. Gopi, Mridul Chakraborty, Pradeep, Dharmendra Kumar, Premchand and Abhinav Kumar took part in the training programme. Dr. Premchand presented an appraisal report on behalf of the group of scientists.
