MPDO staffer held on graft charge
HYDERABAD: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Tuesday arrested K. Yohan, technical assistant in Dhone Mandal Parishad Development Office, Kurnool district, after they ‘caught’ him accepting a bribe of Rs.1,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour.
A press release issued by the ACB here on Wednesday said Yohan had demanded the amount for recording the measurements for the work executed by the complainant under NERGS and forwarding them to the MPDO.
Cash recovered
The officials recovered the tainted cash from him. He will be produced before the ACB Special Court, Hyderabad.
Pension withheld
The government punished P. Chandrasekharaiah, former Balayapalli village panchayat secretary, by withholding his pension and gratuity in full permanently on June 23 this year following his conviction by the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nellore. He was sentenced to one year rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs.1,000.
He was trapped by the ACB on November 25, 2003, when he accepted Rs.700 from the complainant for processing an application for issue of pattadar passbook for 1.58 acres purchased by him.
