Doctor held on charge of raping medical student

Mumbai: A 30-year-old doctor at a government hospital here was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly raping a medical student on the false promise of marriage, police said.

Rahul Samarpal Singh Deshwal, a Resident Medical Officer, was arrested on a complaint by the victim, senior police inspector Sanjeev Kokil told journalists here.

Cases were registered against Dr. Deshwal, a resident of Haryana.The police seized his laptop, mobile phone, pen drive and clothes from his hospital room. The laptop and the phone were sent for forensic examination. He will be produced in court on Wednesday.
