No gain from rain in Maharashtra

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: There have been virtually no inflows in reservoirs based on Krishna and Godavari rivers following heavy rains in Maharashtra and surrounding areas.

In respect of the Krishna river system, the inflows remained nil even to Almatti project in Karnataka, let alone those lying in Andhra Pradesh such as Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar and Jurala. Same is the case with projects located in the Godavari basin like Jaikwadi (Maharasthra), and Sriramsagar, Nizamsagar, and Singur, all in A.P.

No inflow

The daily chart released by the Irrigation Department revealed on Tuesday that the inflows to the projects in the Pennar and Vamsadhara basins too remained nil.
