Ex-principal of ITI, staffer punished

HYDERABAD: The government has punished K. Raj Vittal, former principal of Nalgonda Government ITI (girls), and M. Deva Das, former senior assistant/store-keeper in the institute, by withholding the entire pension and gratuity permanently following their conviction in a case registered by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Inflated costs

A press release by the ACB here on Tuesday said the two had purchased items like computers, electronic goods and instruments at a price many times higher than the prevailing market rates and caused loss of over Rs. 4.75 lakh to the government and gained themselves from the transactions. The purchases were made following receipt of a budget of Rs. 22 lakh under the World Bank fund.
