HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will turn 60 on Wednesday, but he has decided to keep away from media glare and public representatives on his birthday. He left for Goa by a special aircraft on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the occasion with his family members and close relatives. After spending three days in Goa. he will return to the State capital on July 12 morning. Dr. Reddy has been taking time off to celebrate his birthday in the company of his family members. He celebrated his last two birthdays in the island nation of Maldives. He made no exception this time for his 60th birthday. Meanwhile, a large delegation of political leaders called on him on the eve of his birthday. Addressing them, Dr. Reddy reiterated his commitment to giving top priority to irrigation and said that the annual allocation for the sector would range from Rs. 18,000 crore to Rs. 20,000 crore forthwith. It was committed to completing 56 projects more in the coming four years and a comprehensive plan had been prepared in this direction, he said. On the national project status to some projects, he said the government had specifically requested the Centre to accord national project status to Polavaram, Pranahita-Chevella, Yellampally, Kantanapally and Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanti and sought its assistance for their completion.
