It will represent the city in south zone competitions of Limca Book of Records Quiz Nearly 3,000 teams from 75 cities across the country are taking part in the quiz HYDERABAD: Which Indian State shares international borders with three countries? By the time Derek O’Brien, the ace quizmaster finished the question, Syed Mustafa Hashmi, a student of Sri Chaitanya, pressed the buzzer and answered, “Sikkim”. When Mr. O’Brien asked him for his team’s present score, he said 79, adding 10 points to the actual score with the confidence that his answer was a sure-fire one. And he was right - Sikkim borders Nepal, Bhutan and China. The city finals of Limca Book of Records Quiz -2009 held at Hyderabad Public School, Ramanthapur here on Tuesday, was a contest of geniuses. ParticipantsSix teams from Johnson Grammar School, Sri Chaitanya Junior College, All Saints’ High School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Gitanjali Senior School and Nasr Public School, which outsmarted the 214 teams in preliminaries, competed for the gold medal. As the rounds progressed, the top score altered among the All Saints’, Sri Chaitanya and Johnson Grammar School teams. Steady show However, the steady show by Mr. Hashmi and K. Rohit of Sri Chaitanya team, particularly in the last two-rounds, won them the first place. P. Rohan Naidu and A. Krishna Akhil of All Saints’ High School were the first runners-up and R.V. Vamsi Reddy and L. Sabarish Nikhil of Johnson Grammar School were the second runners-up. The confidence and sportive spirit displayed by the teams have impressed the audience. With this win, the Sri Chaitanya team will represent the city in south zone competitions, an event that is to witness a keen contest for supremacy among 21 teams from four southern states. K. Ravi, Regional Finance Manager- South, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited gave away the awards to the winners. Nearly 3,000 teams from around 75 cities across the country are participating in the quiz.
