Ford cuts Endeavour price

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Ford India has reduced the price of its premium sports utility vehicle (SUV) Endeavour by Rs. 6,000. The price reduction comes in the wake of budget-induced reduction in excise duty on cars of engine capacity of 2,000 cc and above.

The Budget 2009-10 has proposed that the excise duty applicable on cars of engine capacity of 2,000 cc and above will be reduced from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 15,000 a vehicle.

“The additional duty reduction has been a welcome step taken by the Government though the reduction is limited only to large cars. We are pleased to pass the benefit of the reduction on the Endeavour to the consumer in entirety,” according to Tim Tucker, Vice-President (Sales), Ford India, said.

The price reduction will be applicable to all three variants of the Endeavour, says a release. The base model (2.5 litre) will now be available at Rs. 15,01,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Ford Endeavour is available in two other variants — the 2.5L XLT and the 3.0L Thunder Plus.
