Realtors accused of felling toddy trees

HYDERABAD: The AP Toddy Tappers’ Association has demanded stringent action against some real estate traders for destroying toddy trees in several villages of Karimnagar district by either setting fire to them or felling, thus depriving tappers of their means of livelihood.

J. Narasimha Murthy, general secretary, in a statement here alleged that several realtors were resorting to a planned destruction of toddy trees in Peddapalli, Manthani, Godavarikhani, Sultanabad, Rampalli and Bandampalli villages. He wanted non-bailable cases registered against them.

Mr. Murthy said in similar incidents in Warangal, Nalgonda, Krishna, Khammam and Guntur districts, real estate traders had destroyed toddy trees utilising the services of factionists.
