Inquiry ordered into rape of Dalit girl

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has ordered an inquiry by a Inspector General of Police into the incident of kidnap and gang rape of a minor Dalit girl at Kontheru village in West Godavari district last month.

Dr. Reddy also announced ex-gratia of Rs. 1 lakh to the victim when a delegation of Dalith Sthree Sakthi (DSS), an organisation working for the rights of Dalit women, took the girl to him on Tuesday. –Special Correspondent
