PRECIOUS RESOURCES: World Oceans Day celebration at Siddhu Matriculation Higher Secondary School; (right) a student performing a cultural programme at St. Claret’s Higher Secondary School, Karumathur, at the inaugural function of various associations. Free notebooks, donated by Noble Foundation, were distributed to students of Sourashtra Co-educational Higher Secondary School by T. N. Vathsals, managing trustee, on June 17. Headmaster T.H. Lakshmanan, M.B. Madhavadass, K. L. Baskaran and O.R. Kannan spoke. World Oceans DayWorld Oceans Day was celebrated at Siddhu Matriculation Higher Secondary School on June 8. C. Divya of standard XI delivered a speech on how people spoiled the oceans and the ways to save them. P. Arul Mozhi Devan of standard IX provided information on peculiar organisms and usefulness of oceans. Students went around the school campus holding placards that carried messages on the need to protect oceans. Saplings plantedA cleaning campaign and planting of tree saplings marked the World Environment Day celebration at Rotary Laharry Matriculation Higher Secondary School on June 5. Students planted saplings to contribute to the sustainable development of the environment. ‘Love plants’A skit on ‘love plants’ featured the World Environment Day celebrated at Maruthu Rukmani Matriculation School on June 5. The highlight of the programme was distribution of different varieties of seeds to students, to create awareness of preservation of environment. They also took a pledge to conserve the environment. InauguratedVarious associations of St. Claret’s Higher Secondary School, Karumathur, were inaugurated by R. Chockalingam, president, Kaviarasu Kannadasan Narpani Mandram, on June 12. In his address, Mr. Chockalingam exhorted the students to develop reading habit to scale new heights in life.
