HOSUR: Tamil Nadu Science Forum will campaign against cauterising children for fever and other ailments in Denkanikottai, Thali and Anchetti areas in the district and child marriage, said A. Sivakumar, its District Secretary, here on Sunday.

A resolution in this regard was passed at its second district level conference held in Maharishi Bala Vidya Mandir School in Hosur.

Other resolutions include urging the government to reopen the industries closed due to worldwide economic slowdown, seeking action against commercialisation of education and prevention of environmental degradation through pollution.

To mark the International Year of Astronomy, S. Anandan of Student Federation of India gave a power point presentation on ‘Explore the Universe’ at the conference. A photo exhibition on the subject was also held. The district level conference of the forum is held once in two years.

The new office-bearers elected at the conference were M. Elangovan (Honorary Advisor), S. Anandan (president), A. Sivakumar (secretary) and R. Balakrishnan (treasurer).
