Two held for robbery

DAVANGERE: The Davangere police have arrested two persons on charges of snatching a bag containing gold ornaments from a passenger of an autorickshaw.

The police gave the names of the arrested as Chandra of Nituvalli and Ashraf Ali.

Sachin, a gold merchant from Chennagiri, had hired an auto at the KSRTC bus stand to go to private bus stand.

Chandra, the auto driver, had made out that the passenger had been carrying valuables and took Ashraf Ali along with him in the auto.

Both the accused took the gold merchant to an isolated place and snatched the bag from him. — Staff Correspondent
