AMS to develop ‘Durgabai village’

HYDERABAD: A model community centre, ‘Durgabai village’ is being developed by the Andhra Mahila Sabha in a rural area, near Ibrahimpatnam, in Ranga Reddy district, to mark the ongoing birth centenary celebrations of the sabha founder Durgabai Deshmukh.

Rajalakshmi Sunkavally, president, and K. Lokender Rao, secretary of the sabha, said here on Saturday that the centenary celebrations, launched in July 2008, would conclude at Chennai on the same date.

Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy and Prema Cariappa, chairperson, Central Social Welfare Board, would attend valedictory function at Ravindra Bharati on July 7.
