Soccer player ends life
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: A 30-year-old State-level football player, who had consumed pesticide here on Saturday, died in hospital on Sunday. A. Ravindran alias Velu (30), a resident of Goutham Nagar in Srirampura, used to represent CQAL-CIE, which is affiliated to DRDO. Ravindran, in his note, is said to have blamed his coach Shyam Sai. Ravindran’s brother A. Rajendran has filed a complaint against the coach with the police.
Velu had represented the State football team for eight years. A few years ago he was selected for the CRPF but his coach reportedly dissuaded him from joining, promising him a permanent job in CIE (Controllerate of Inspection Electronics). But that did not happen; and his football career also ended.
