Ranbir Singh shot from close range, says report

DEHRA DUN: The autopsy report of MBA graduate Ranbir Singh, who was gunned down by the Uttarakhand police last Friday, said he was shot from close range and might have been tortured. His family has demanded a CBI probe into the killing.

The police claimed that Ranbir, who hailed from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, was shot dead in an encounter after he fled with a sub-inspector’s revolver. The report showed that the body of Ranbir, 22, bore 12 marks of bullets fired from close range and 27 other injuries.

Police sources said on Sunday the post-mortem revealed that the body bore deep wounds and bullet marks. The inference is that Ranbir was tortured before he was killed. This was corroborated by the injury marks found on his body, they said. — PTI
