Minister Somanna allegedly verbally abused the officer BANGALORE: Somaraju, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), who was allegedly verbally abused and assaulted by the Minister for Housing and Muzrai, V. Somanna, here on Saturday, was reportedly “still unconscious” on Sunday, according to close relatives of the engineer. However, authorities at the Manipal Hopsital said Mr. Somaraju is “all right” and will be shifted to the ward on Monday. Meanwhile, the engineer’s relatives have said that they are in the process of a drafting a complaint against Mr. Somanna for his “undignified and violent” behaviour. “We are going to approach the Governor as well as the Chief Minister,” said Venkatesh, a relative of the engineer’s. The family members emphasise that they want the Minister to resign and will appeal to the Chief Minister in this connection. On Sunday, the working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), D.K. Shivakumar, Nagamangala MLA Suresh Gowda and K.R. Pet MLA K. Chandrashekhar visited the engineer at the hospital. Mr. Shivakumar has urged the Chief Minister to take action against Mr. Somanna.
