Time to explore West Bengal
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: West Bengal could not take up tourism packages with Andhra Pradesh, as the long distance between the two States was a major constraint.
The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director T.V.N. Rao said at a press conference here on Sunday APSRTC dropped the plan of operating buses to Kolkata two years ago.
Mr. Rao said West Bengal has been developing tourism potential in a big way.
The picturesque Sunderbans and Jaldapara wildlife sanctuary has a lot to offer to animal lovers. There was 80 per cent chances of spotting rhinos and bisons during jungle safari.
He added that West Bengal was committed to provide three-star hotel facility to its customers at a reasonable tariff. At Jaldapara, the corporation charged Rs.1,850 per room as against Rs. 3,000 per room collected by private lodges. The corporation had a room capacity of 540 in 24 lodges across the State.
