HYDERABAD: The South-West monsoon turned active finally over Coastal Andhra region. The Meteorological Department forecast was that there would be increased rainfall over the North Coastal belt on Monday. On Sunday, Tekkali in Srikakulam district recorded a heavy rainfall of 9 cm. The other instances of heavy rainfall: Amalapuram 5 cm; Sultanabad 4 cm; Narsapur, Tuni, Kaikalur, Palakonda, Sompeta, Srisailam 3 cm each; Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Bobbili, Coonavaram, Peddapuram, Prathipadu, Repalle 2 cm each and Bhadrachalam, Nellore, Vijayawada Airport, Avanigadda, Gudivada, Tiruvuru, Chintapalli, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Narsampet, Koida, Madhira, Yellandu, Komarada,Parvathipuram, Srungavarapukota, Terlam, Madnoor, Manthani, Mudhole, Rajahmundry, Venkatagiri, Yerragondapalem one cm each. The IMD forecast said there would be moderate to rather heavy rain or thundershowers at many places in Coastal belt and light to moderate rains or thundershowers at a few places over Telangana and Rayalaseema too.
