Orientation course for new MPs

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will inaugurate a week-long orientation programme for new Lok Sabha members here on Monday.
Organised by the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training (BPST) of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the programme will cover issues like parliamentary questions and other procedural devices available to members to raise issues on the floor of the House, parliamentary committees, parliamentary privileges, budgetary process, and role, status and functions of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
Deputy Speaker Karia Munda, BPST Hon. adviser Margaret Alva and some Ministers will address the members. Ms. Kumar will also inaugurate an exhibition on “Parliamentary democracy in India: Marching Ahead.”
