Scarcity of postcards

Meghadoot postcards supplied by the department of posts are not available at post offices.

The card at a price of 25 paise with advertisement on the back is very useful to the public, particularly senior citizens, who are making good use of the card to inform their friends and relatives about their health condition.

I request the department of posts to make available the Meghadoot postcards in all the post offices throughout the year.

Bad precedent

When there are so many other democratic ways to lodge a complaint, it is unfortunate that Nagarkurnool MP Manda Jagannath reportedly slapped the manager of a bank.

The elected representative set a very bad precedent in the public life.

This incident should not be allowed to go without any probe, lest so many similar incidents may recur in the future.

Being the public representative, Mr. Jagannath should become a role model to others by his good ethical behaviour. If there is any omission on the part of the bank manager, there are so many democratic procedures and rules to mend his ways.

Beef up security in trains

The spate of thefts taking place in the railway coaches is shocking the commuters. The latest incident is the one that took place in Gowthami Express near Khammam.

I feel that railways should be directed to pay compensation to the victims, who had lost their valuables in the train.

The Railway Minister is requested to look into the issue of frequent thefts in trains and make adequate arrangements to provide security in all the coaches.

Unless the security is beefed up, it is not possible to control such incidents.

Prevent acid attacks

Despite the dastardly encounter of those accused of making an acid attack on a girl in Warangal, such attacks are being reported day in and day out.

The primary feature of these attacks is that only women are being targeted and it is quite saddening that the acid attacks are being reported only from Andhra Pradesh. In the wake of a spurt in acid attacks, the Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission has recommended to the government to introduce a specific provision in the Indian Penal Code for tackling such offences with iron hand and introduce a Bill.

The most notable feature of this heinous crime is that the victims do not die, but are subjected to untold suffering, distress and distraught. The government is requested to take a serious note of the attacks and do something to prevent them.
