Youth killed in road accident

CUTTACK: A youth was killed on the spot on the Ring Road of the city near Jobra on Sunday morning. While a relative of the deceased, Bikash Ray, lodged a police complaint alleging a hit-and-run case involving a car, police claim quoting eye witnesses that the youth, who was riding a bike died after he hit a road divider while speaking over his cell phone.

Local Manglabag police said the body of one Arabinda Mohanty (25) of Choudwar area was lying in a pool of blood in front of the gate of Biju Patnaik TV and Film Institute of Jobra.

The victim had reportedly attended an ailing relative in SCB hospital the night before and was returning to his home in the wee hours of the day. But some eye witnesses reportedly said that the victim was speaking over his cell phone while riding the two-wheeler, police said.
