Looking for clues: Senior Superintendent of Police B. Srikanth and other police officers visiting the spot where a country bomb exploded. — PUDUCHERRY: A crude device concealed in a polythene bag exploded killing two children at Kurukkanmedu near Thavalakuppam on Saturday. Antony (10) and Albert (8) died at the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital. Medical Superintendent V. Govindaraj told The Hindu that they had sustained severe burns all over the body. One of them had lost his hands. The children were students of a government primary school at Thavalakuppam. The incident took place around noon when they picked up the bag from a vacant plot of land. The device, similar to a country bomb, exploded when they tried to unwrap the threads, Senior Superintendent of Police B. Srikanth said. At least two to four bombs must have exploded at the same time.
