EMU service delayed

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: An EMU service from Beach to Tambaram ran without the guard between Nungambakkam and Kodambakkam on Saturday morning.

According to railway sources, the guard got down from the EMU at Nugambakkam on hearing some commotion in a ladies compartment. Before he moved to his cabin from the ladies compartment after settling the issue, the EMU started moving. As some work on the platform was going on at the station, the guard found it difficult to run and get into his cabin. The motorman who realised the absence of the guard at the next station (Kodambakkam) waited for him. After the arrival of the guard by the next EMU, the train proceeded further.

Due to this, the EMU suffered a delay of about 20 minutes, the official said.
