THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Managements of eight self-financing medical colleges on Saturday inked a three-tier fee pact with the State government. In the government quota (50 per cent), students hailing from BPL families will pay a fee of Rs.25,000. Students in the SEBC category will pay Rs.45,000 and the rest, Rs.1.38 lakh. Allotments to these seats will be carried out by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. In the management quota the admissions will be carried out from the rank list prepared on the basis of the entrance examinations conducted by the managements. Here, the fee will be Rs.4.5 lakh. In the NRI quota, the maximum fee will be Rs.9 lakh. If no candidate in the BPL category seeks admission to any of these colleges, each institution will charge only Rs.25,000 from seven candidates with the lowest annual family income from among those who were allotted in the government seats. While there will be no limit on the allotments and re-allotments that may be done by the CEE, all these should be completed before September 22. The first allotment should be completed before July 24. This pact will now be submitted to the fee regulatory committee headed by P.A. Mohammed for its approval.
