College jubilee concludes

Students asked to take a holistic approach

Celebration time: Most Rev. Paul Maipan, Bishop of Khammam, conducting a prayer to mark the conclusion of the golden jubilee of St. Joseph’s College for Women in the city on Saturday.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Eucharistic Prayer Service, inspiring messages, food and celebrations marked the conclusion of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous) on Saturday.

Students and guests, dressed in their best, were all eyes and ears as Most Rev. Paul Maipan, Bishop of Khammam conducted the Mass. Other distinguished Bishops, Priests and Sisters presented sermons and choir. College Principal Sr. N.D. Veronica welcomed the gathering.

Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Beela Satyanarayana, who was the chief guest, described the college as one of the pioneering institutions in promoting women’s education in the city.

Rev. Sr. Gratia, Provincial Superior, St. Joseph of Annecy (Visakhapatnam Province) and Dr. Xavier Alphonse, former Principal, Loyola College, Chennai, who participated as guests of honour, appreciated its selfless services to the needy and the underprivileged.

They urged the students to take a holistic approach in uplifting themselves and emerging as the best human resource talent.

Students presented various dances numbers, including traditional and modern dances to the delight of the audience.

Head of the Department of Office Management, D.A. Ramani coordinated the event. Golden Jubilee Committee coordinators Jeevan Babu, P.K. Jayalakshmi and P.S. Annapurna were present.
