Police set up helpline for women

VIJAYAWADA: The city police have set up a helpline for women in the police control room.

Victims of ragging, teasing and domestic violence can take its help by dialling the toll-free telephone number ‘1091.’ The victims can even choose not to disclose their identity, but they have to give details of the offenders.

Police Commissioner K.V. Rajendranath Reddy said in a statement that the objective was to prevent atrocities on women and protect the victims.
