BANGALORE: A 40-year-old woman was murdered allegedly by her neighbour and another person at Kamakshamma Layout in Yelahanka police station limits on Saturday. The police said Subbalaxmamma went with her neighbour Lakshmidevamma to a temple on Friday to perform a ritual. As she did not return even after a long time, Subbalaxmamma’s husband Reddappa filed a missing complaint with the police. On Saturday morning, a passer-by found the body of a woman abandoned near a lake on Yelahanka-Kenchanahalli road. The police went to the spot along with Reddappa, who identified the body as that of his wife. The police then questioned Lakshmidevamma, who allegedly admitted murdering Subbalaxmamma along with Ravi Teja (40), a wayside tea-seller. Lakshmidevamma reportedly admitted that she was being pressured by Teja to return the Rs. 5,000 she had borrowed. This made her to hatch a plan with Teja to kill Subbalaxmamma. The police recovered Subbalaxmamma’s necklace and ear-rings, allegedly removed by Lakshmidevamma. The police have arrested Lakshmidevamma and Teja. Contractor hurtA 54-year-old labour contractor was injured when he was shot at, at Garudacharpalya in Mahadevapura police station limits on Friday night. The police said Ramesh Athani, a native of Belgaum, was returning home on his motorcycle when two-motorcycle-borne men blocked his way near R.H.B. Colony and asked Athani to show the direction to a house. As Mr. Athani was explaining, one of the assailants took out a country-made pistol and shot at him. ArrestedThe Vijayanagar police arrested S. Ashok (27) of Cauvery Layout for his alleged involvement in the murder of Renuka B (30) in Vijayanagar 9th Main Road on June 22. The police said Ashok was cheated by Renuka of Rs. 5,000. He came to her house on June 19 and stabbed her. The police traced Ashok on the basis of a piece of paper that was recovered from the place of murder.
