Bangalore: Another 12 employees from Samsung India on Saturday rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) to get themselves screened for the H1N1 virus. As many as 90 employees had rushed to the institute on Friday after the company had declared a holiday to enable their employees to get screened. Shashidhar Buggi, RGICD Director, said that a total of 21 people were screened on Saturday, and eight throat and nasal swabs had been collected and sent for tests to the National Institute of Virology, Pune. “The other patients had come to the institute out of anxiety. After examining them, we reassured them as they were not close contacts of the affected person,” he said. The employees panicked after one of their colleagues, a 29-year-old engineer who returned from South Korea on June 28, tested positive for the flu on Thursday, after he voluntarily reported for screening on June 30. Dr. Buggi said that the test reports of the six patients sent to Pune institute on Friday were awaited. “The condition of those admitted is improving and the viral load is regressing,” he added.
