VISAKHAPATNAM: Union Minister of State for Human Resrouce Development D. Purandeswari has hailed the disbursement of advance interim payment to the employees of Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels, a subsidiary of BHEL. In a statement, she claimed that following her initiative, BHEL board met on June 30 and cleared the proposal for advance interim payment which includes the basic pay, dearness allowance, house rent and other allowances – equivalent to the pay scale indicated as per the 1997 wage revision. She had earlier spoke to Satyanarayana Dash, Secretary, Department of Heavy Industries and Ravi Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of BHEL. In response to a representation submitted by National Employees Union of BHPV on June 1, she met Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Vilasrao Desmuckh and appraised him the long pending issues. MP’s pleaBHPV National Employees’ Union (recognised) honorary president and Rajya Sabha member K. Keshava Rao on Saturday asked the BHPV management to modernise the machinery for better productivity. During a visit to the plant here, he thanked the management for implementing interim wage hike from April 1. BHPV Executive Director P. Phalguna Rao told Mr. Rao and other union leaders that BHEL had already secured several work orders for the BHPV plant. After the constitution of the new board for BHPV, several issues related to employees would be taken up and solved.
