Guntur philatelists strike it rich

GUNTUR: The Guntur district philatelists reaped a rich haul of prizes at the Numismatic and Philatelic Competitive Exhibition organised at Kakinada last week.

Guntur Numismatic and Philatelic Society members won four of the six gold medals on offer three silver and two bronze including three medals in the Juniors’ category.

The State-wide competitions organised by the East Godavari Numismatic and Philatelic Society at Kainada attracted 83 philatelists and 86 numismatists.

Three International Medal Winning exhibits were also displayed in the Invitee Class . Guntur Society secretary MVS Prasad said that among the Gold Medal winners were T. Dheeraj Chaitanya for his display on India Trhough Stamps, T. Ramalingeswara Rao - War and Peace, Ch. Venkateswara Rao - The World of Birds and MVS Prasad - The story of Reptiles; Silver medal winners AV Krishna Rao - Postal Stationery Before 1990 and Coins of Great Britain (Numismatic Section).
