Staff Reporter

Coimbatore: Officials of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) conducted a drive against stray cattle and removed 36 goats from the roads in various places in the city.

Livestock yard

On instructions from Collector P. Umanath, Superintendent of Police, N. Kannan and supervision of Joint Director of Animal Husbandry, the drive was carried out by SPCA officials with the help of Coimbatore Corporation.

The drive focussed on places such as Peelamedu, Neelikonampalayam, Sowripalayam, Uppiliplayam and other nearby areas. The goats were taken to the livestock yard at the SPCA.

Fine

The owners of the goats paid the fine for taking back the cattle. SPCA plans to sustain the drive in the city.
