VISAKHAPATNAM: The National School of Dram, Bangalore Centre, as part of Dakshina Natakotsav, will present six Best Indian Play Productions in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam languages, to the people with a heart for the art in the port city from Sunday. These include the all time popular Maya Bazar (Telugu) by the inimitable Surabhi Team on Sunday, followed by Gokula Nirmagana (Kannada), directed by the legendary, B.V.Karanth and enacted by Benaka team, on Monday. The other plays include Kuthirai Muttai (Tamil, Tuesday), Pravaachaka (Malayalam,Wednesday), Kabir Das (Telugu,Thursday) and Karnabharam (Malayalam, Friday). The venue for this festival, organized for the first time in Visakhapatnam, is the Kalabharathi AC Auditorium. Noted theatre personality, Chatla Sriramulu, who briefed the media, said that every play will commence at 6.30 pm on dot and gates will be closed. People coming after closure of gates would have to sit in the gallery. He made a special appeal to all to keep this in mind. Children below the age of eight would not be permitted. Dr.Sriramulu said that a four-week theatre workshop would be organized in Visakhapatnam before end of this year. This workshop would be for the general public, Dr.Sriramulu said. Chariman, Devendra Raj Ankur , Professor, Extension Programmes, National School of Drama said that six more dram schools are proposed to be set in different parts of the country like Kolkata, Assam, Chandigarh etc. The Government had already approved plans, Prof.Ankur said.
