A meeting will be held in Hyderabad on July 28 to discuss all aspects of the policy, he says Steps will be taken to encourage ancillary units around major industries
Looking ahead: Minister for Major Industries Kanna Lakshminarayana addressing a "Meet the Press" organised by Vizag Journalists Forum in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. VISAKHAPATNAM: ‘The ‘Industrial Policy-2010’ of Andhra Pradesh, which is on the anvil, would usher in a new industrial era in the State and take it to the top slot in industrial development in the country in the coming five years. As part of this, four industrial estates are proposed to be setup in the State. Recession which is a global phenomenon had no doubt resulted in a slowdown, but with the new industrial policy, things would definitely improve, said Minister for Major Industries, Kanna Lakshminarayana. Participating in a ‘meet the press’ programme organised by the Vizag Journalists Forum here on Saturday , the Minister said that a meeting would be held in Hyderabad on July 28 to discuss all aspects of new industrial policy. Officials from labour, revenue, municipal administration, and other departments would participate and hammer out solutions for industrial units. Sector-wise review would be taken up at the meet, the Minister said. Recession notwithstanding, paper, steel, cement industries have been doing well in the State, said the Minister. The State has conducive atmosphere for setting up new units. Law and order is good. There is stable Government. There would be no problem of land allotment and power supply. These would attract new entrepreneurs, the Minister said. On the woes of small scale units, the Minister said that steps would be taken to encourage ancillary units around major industries. The problems of small units and units in cooperative sector were brought to his notice and he would initiate steps to solve them. On establishing new industrial units in the State, he said that an MoU had been signed for manufacture of helicopters in the State. Civil works had already been started and production would commence next year, he said. Answering questions, the Minister said that the Chief Minister, Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, had already clarified the Government view on setting up of Coastal Corridor. The issue needed further discussion, he said. The Minister agreed that injustice had been meted out to the State in the Railway Budget, but MPs would take up the issue. VJF secretary, Srinubabu welcomed the Minister.
