Y.R. Jagadeesha dead

Bangalore: Senior Prosecutor Y.R. Jagadeesha (67), who won several criminal cases, died in the city on Thursday night. According to his wish, the family members gave Jagadeesha’s body to the M.S. Ramaiah Hospital for studies.

Mr. Jagadeesha worked as the prosecutor in the First Fast Track Sessions Court. Among the cases he succeeded in getting conviction included the high profile murder of a business executive in a luxury hotel in May 2001. Aparajit B. Basak, a management consultant and two others, were sentenced to life in 2007.

Mr. Jagadeesha was one of two Special Public Prosecutors in the multicrore stamp paper racket cases. He was the Special Public Prosecutor representing Lokayukta police in cases of corruption in Bangalore.

A month ago, Mr. Jagadeesha was admitted to a hospital following problem in the liver. He leaves behind his wife and two sons.
