Higher compensation recommended

BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission has directed the State Government to pay a compensation of Rs. 3 lakh to each of the families who died in a two accidents when the boats they were riding capsized in the Tungabhadra river on June 22. In a press release here, the KSHRC said that most of the victims and injured persons were peasants. On humanitarian and reasonable grounds, the Government should bear the medical expenses of the injured persons, the release added. — Staff Reporter
