Pensioners to get health cards: YSR
Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy
HYDERABAD: In a move that is likely to benefit lakhs of retired employees, the State government is planning to issue health cards.
Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, in response to a plea by the Retired Employees, Teachers and Workers Welfare Mission at a felicitation programme on Saturday, assured to see that health cards on the lines of Arogyasri health cards were issued to pensioners.
Mission convenor K. Laxmaiah had appealed to the government to consider issuing the health cards as the pensioners were finding it difficult to pay hefty medical bills and then run around government offices for reimbursement. The Chief Minister also announced construction of home for the aged, particularly retired employees, wherever Rajiv Swagruha residential complexes were coming up. He promised to use the services of the pensioners in social service activities and on going welfare programmes of the government. Earlier, Dr. Reddy was felicitated by the office bearers of the mission.
