School investiture ceremony held

VIZIANAGARAM: The annual investiture ceremony of Sainik School, Korukonda was held at P.V.G. Raju Auditorium on the school premises here on Saturday. Captain (N) M. S. Raghunathan, Group Commander, NCC Group HQ, Visakhapatnam, was the chief guest.

After the initial introduction, the chief guest conferred the epaulettes on the shoulders of selected school appointments for the year 2009-10.

The coveted Principals Banner was presented to Gupta House among the senior houses and the “Jaguar” among the junior squadrons for the year 2008-09.

The Vice Admiral Guha’s Trophy was awarded to Gupta House.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Raghunathan exhorted them to discharge their duties with honesty and sincerity. He said that firmness and fairness were the two most important guiding principles for any appointment. R. G. Thayakaran, Head of Department of English conducted the proceedings. Earlier, Principal of the school Captain (IN) P. K. Singh received the chief guest. Cadet Saron Raju, school captain, proposed vote of thanks.

Wing Commander T. Nataraj, Registrar, officiating Head Master of the school A. Sadasivan and others were present.
