PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry government should enact law to secure 50 per cent of seats in private medical colleges for government quota, Member of Legislative Assembly R.K.R. Anantharaman has said in a release. Permission for establishing private medical colleges was granted on the condition that 50 per cent of the seats would be allotted to the government quota. It was on this basis that a ‘No Objection Certificate’ is being issued to the colleges. But none of the colleges had come forward to surrender 50 per cent seats to the government, he said. He urged the government to enact an emergency law to get 50 per cent medical seats for the benefit of the students.
