School Notes



TRANSFER OF POWER: Mathew Thengumpally, Principal, Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School, Thiruvallam, in Thiruvananthapuram handing over the ‘Golden Key’ to student principal Sretha Sreekumar on the occasion of Student’s Day recently.

Student’s Day

It was a day off for the teachers of Christ Nagar Senior Secondary School, Thiruvallam, on Thursday, as students ran the show, handling classes and administration with equal aplomb to mark the annual Student’s Day of the school.

The day began with an assembly addressed by the student principal, Sretha Sreekumar, who proposed the theme of this year’s student’s day as ‘Vision of the Future.’

The classes were in full swing as student teachers displayed their pedagogical skills. The entire day’s performance was monitored and evaluated by a panel of regular teachers and the best student teachers were selected. Earlier, Mathew Thengumpally, Principal, handed over the ‘Golden Key’ to the student principal symbolising the transfer of power for a day to the students. Prizes were also given to the best student teachers.

International award

Christ Nagar International School, Kowdiar, has bagged the International School Award instituted by the British Council.

According to Josey Kollammalil, director of the school, the accreditation was awarded after the school proved its ongoing commitment to international education through stringent evaluation process on the basis of chosen projects given by the British Council.

The accreditation is aimed at developing partnerships between India and the U.K. for building a network of Indian schools with international links.

As a part of the evaluation process, the school was given 10 projects on various topics such as democracy, frontiers of medicine, Green Revolution, from Victorian age to the present, seven wonders of the world, famous waterfalls, national flags of different countries, insects of the world and disease caused by them, population and consumption of natural resources and sports and games. The school has also developed a partnership with Jean Renoir Public School, Bourges, France. As a part of the tie-up, 17 students and 10 teachers from the French school visited Christ Nagar recently and participated in various activities.
