Celebration: Children of Crescent Play School in Udhagamandalam attired in red on Saturday. Udhagamandalam: Children studying at the Crescent Play School here and their family members got something to talk about over the weekend thanks to a novel activity organised at the school on Saturday. Having recently introduced a system by which the children in classes pre kindergarten to two did something which was different and engaging every Saturday, the Correspondent Umar Farook and Headmistress Shantha Mohan decided to promote colour consciousness among them this Saturday. Accordingly, the children and their teachers joined hands to celebrate the Red Day. With all the 400 children dressed in various shades of red and carrying things in red like balloons, ribbons and chocolates wrapped in red paper the entire campus wore a crimson look. Ms.Mohan told The Hindu that the adoption of modern teaching methods was necessary to help children gain knowledge early in life. As part of the celebrations, they not only turned up in red clothes but also collected a variety of information about various colours, particularly red. Appreciating the significance of the activity their parents were a major source of encouragement. What next? In reply, Mr. Farook said an activity associated with fruits was on the cards to promote health consciousness among the children.
