Akash stuns Fahad; enters final

CHENNAI: L. Akash upset the second-seeded M. Fahad 6-4, 6-4 in a boys’ under-14 semifinal contest of the second Augustine Thomas Cup State-ranking tennis tournament, conducted by SDAT-Prince Academy at its courts, here on Friday.

Girls (quarterfinals): Under-14: Lavanya Saravanan bt Angilines Janis 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-1; Ankitha bt T.G. Janani 6-3, 6-1; R. Binu bt N. Indraja Reddy 6-1, 6-0; Prithika Rani bt Shrayamani 6-2, 6-2. Three share lead

J. Mohana Priya, P.V. Nandhidhaa and P. Michelle Catherina were tied for the lead in the Tamil Nadu state sub-junior championship (girls) at the end of round seven here on Friday. In the boys section, Srikanth Ajay, N.D. Rakesh Kumar, G. Akash and M. Swaroop shared the lead after round seven.
