Arrested for fraud

CHENNAI: One person who relieved a native of Andhra Pradesh of Rs.3.7 lakh after promising a job in a reputed private company was arrested on Friday.

Police said Shiva Shankar Rao had lodged a complaint with the Mambalam police that Venkatesan, who was staying in the same lodge where he was put up, had offered to get him a job in a construction company. He took Rs.3.7 lakh as commission for the appointment. Even as the weeks passed, the accused neither got him the job nor returned the money.

The accused was remanded to judicial custody.
