LPG connection on demand

MADURAI: As part of its golden jubilee celebrations, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has decided to sanction new domestic LPG connections without any delay or waiting period. For consumers who have applied for second cylinder also, known as Double Bottle Connection, it has cleared the waiting list till June 30.

D. Murali, Senior Area Manager, IOC, told The Hindu here that a communication was received from the State Office in Chennai that new connections as well as second cylinder applications can be released immediately to commemorate the 50th year celebrations.

“If anyone applies for new connection now, we will immediately ask the distributors to do the address verification and it will be released without delay,” he said on Thursday. The Indane Area Office here covers 10 districts — Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Theni, Dindigul, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Ramanathapuram, Kanyakumari and Pudukottai.“The total number of domestic LPG connections for our Area Office will touch 14 lakh if the waiting list/new connections are also taken into account,” he said.

Stating that the consumers would have to submit valid documents for getting domestic LPG connections, Mr. Murali said that the IOC was also swiftly releasing the free LPG connections provided by the State Government for people Below Poverty Line.

The golden jubilee celebrations began on June 30.
