Indian juniors train at St. Andrews

NEW DELHI: Nine junior Indian golfers, between 13 and 17 years of age, recently completed a week-long coaching camp at the St. Andrews Links Golf Academy (SALGA), Scotland.

The young golfers — Anirudha Uppal, Aayusha Uppal, Martand Singh, Saiyam Pabreja, Jaiwant Dhingra, Raunaq Singh, Siddartha Sharathram, Simer Dhingra and Gayatri Chandra – got tips from several coaches including Steve North, the Director of Instruction, SALGA.

Pabreja, the winner of the camp trophy, was delighted with the opportunity. “The best part for me was the coaching from Steve North. The techniques he and other coaches taught me will be really helpful,” said the Delhi Golf Club player.

Mr. North praised the budding Indians. “Technically, the level of the students was very high,” he said.

During the camp, conducted by the Indian Golf Company, the golfers played on the famous Old Course besides teeing up at the Duke’s Course and New Course. —
