Bangalore: In a dramatic turn-around, North defeated West by six wickets in the final to claim the Col. Hemu Adhikari Memorial Trophy NCA inter-academy under-19 cricket tournament at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday. The concluding day commenced with West resuming its second innings at a comfortable 155 for five but the script changed as the last five wickets fell for the addition of a mere 29 runs while Sunny Sherawat (six for 49) excelled for North. West scored 184 in its second innings. Set a target of 232, North cruised in its second innings with Himanshu Chawla (109) and Mandeep Singh (74) sharing a critical 159-run third-wicket partnership. North scored 235 for four in 49.3 overs to claim the trophy. The scores (final): West 271 in 104 overs and 184 in 82.4 overs (Nikunj Mohite 68, Manprit Juneja 28, Sunny Sherawat six for 49) lost to North 224 in 94.5 overs and 235 for four in 49.3 overs (Himanshu Chawla 109, Mandeep Singh 74, Sumeet Verma 40 n.o., Jaydev Unadkat three for 54).
